Marvel Vs. DC: Diversity in Film current state

Here are my thoughts in relation to this article.

Although Twilight and The Hunger Games both have leading ladies, one key factor is that they also have been very successful book series, that also had ready and willing fan base, and for those that do not read book series (such as myself, but have seen all the movies to everything else that was a book first) and go see the book series movies. So they will have to do some work to pull Wonder Woman to current major fan base of comic heroes.

Now this article does make some very good points. Having a female lead and African American are two things lacking in the Marvel film realm. But here is the thing, as far as a woman in a major part, Storm is still the front running comic woman of Marvel and DC. Though she may not have an individual movie of her own //in which with her back story, team leadership, and love interest ie, Black Panther, Wolverine, and Forge, she has enough substance to introduce others and carry her own. OH and she in 3 soon to be 4 movies already. BUT I DIGRESS// she is still the woman holding down the job, and now coming in second Black Widow //she seem pretty major in that Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer, oh and she also has been in 3 movies 4 by the time Avengers 2 comes out.....okay you see my point//. Now granted, you can not talk about JLA with out mentioning Wonder Woman, and of course she is one of the Big 3 JLA, because lets face it, Batman, Superman and Wonder Wonder are always the definite 3 without a question on the team. The problem is that when put with the JLA, Wonder Woman still will fall as supporting member to the rest of JLA. Sorry to say, but she will. BUT, it will be a good move after the JLA to give her own movie, and she can hold it down with a good start up from JLA since DC said they don't want to go off the Marvel template (individual movie then team movie)

Now, as much as it pains me to say this as the hardcore Marvelite that I am, but if DC came with a Green Lantern reboot with John Stewart mannnnnn, but would be a match won on the diversity front, as far as the current comic film status goes (let's not forget about Blade's three movies, tv show, and cartoon, BOOM!) But Since Marvel will only someday to when the Black Panther movie will come out, (despite the obvious use of vibranium, already seen TWICE, and anyone familiar with it knows its in Wakanda, Black Panther can't get his own movie...WTF Marvel....and i know your not going to put the Falcon in Avengers 2...smh) but bringing John Stewart to a massive team movie like JLA will be a major blow to Marvel. Since DC doesn't want to go the Marvel route and do individual movies first, the GL reboot would be great, and just for the appeasement, you can give a quick 30 sec update of what happen to Hal.

So if DC wanted to put Marvel in check (chess metaphor) with Wonder Woman and John Stewart Green Lantern, Checkmate would be having giving Cyborg some mentions or playing time, like War Machine in Iron Man 1. For Marvel, put mention of Wakanda in Captain America 2, let the Falcon be in Avengers 2, and mention/show Luke Cage in Avengers 2. Just a thought, while we are talking about diversity in the teams.

Just my thoughts, what are yours?

My Thoughts: Gravity

Gravity : A medical engineer and an astronaut work together to survive after an accident leaves them adrift in space. ~IMDb

So, I must say that I was not planing on seeing this movie, and now that I did see it, I still say, I will not be watching it again, unless it comes on television at 3 am and I need to go to sleep.

I will say, if you go see the movie, you must see it in 3D because of the zero gravity affect, makes looking at stuff float around much more worth it.

So, Gravity, ummmm, yeaaaaaaaaaa, it was okay. yes, just okay at least for the story of the movie, but the effects and graphics, really had me into the movie. its something about the notion of just drifting in space, not much light, no control of where you go.

I don't know how I feel about movies taking place in location for the whole movies, I mean yes, its space, and its a lot of it, but I thought it would have at least had some type of pre-mission flashback. Although, they gave you enough of a story upfront (the first 5 minutes), so I guess it was not point to flashback. Oh Well

Overall, If you are just bored, or really like George Clooney or Sandra Bullock then it doesn't really matter about the movie, just go see them and the cool view of movie Earth. If not just want until it comes on cable, I'm sure FX channel will show it one day.
